DescriptionDrafting scales, 60 0628-1 & 60 0622-1, (for drafting machine) made by Keuffel & Esser Company, (Hoboken, N.J.), no date, circa 1960-1970. Clear plastic graduated beveled edge scales mounted in channels of aluminum rail with markings stamped in black on underside (beneath beveled edges) with metal mounting brackets (chuck plate) at ends on top face. Both are 2" high x 3/16" thick without the mounting bracket. Manufacturer's marks, "K& E," stamped at each end; underside of aluminum rail stamped: "Germany 1180" on 06-0628-1 and "Germany 0780" on 06 0622-1. Scale 06 0628-1 is 19" long overall with graduations (measuring rule): side 1, 1/2" & 1" per 1 foot and side 2, 1/8" & 1/4" per 1 foot. Scale 06 0622-1 is 13" long overall with graduations (measuring rule): side 1, 1/2" & 1" per 1 foot and side 2, 1/8" & 1/4" per 1 foot. Mounting bracket at each end on face for reversible mounting (end to end) on Paragon Drafting or Map Making Machine. Although marked "Germany", these items were made for and sold by K&E whose main offices and factory were in Hoboken during the period (or part of the period) when these pieces were made and sold.
