Vermont Wyteface "A" steel tape measure on reel made by Keuffel & Esser Company, New York & Hoboken, N.J., issued circa 1945-1960. Steel tape, 100 feet x 5/16" wide; black markings on white face; ring and hook end; aluminum frame reel with self -locking crank handle (length "100" stamped on side of crank seen when in closed position); nameplate with manufacturer's name on reel. Wood handle with black painted finish mostly worn off (no name stamped on handle as depicted in catalogue.) Overall dimensions: 12-1/4" x 8" x 1-1/4"
Graduations in feet and tenths and hundredths of a foot. Marked at foot marks with foot number and within each foot with smaller numbers indicating the foot within every tenth of a foot. Winding drum is 3-7/8" diameter.
Typically used by a number of professions or trades. Listed in 40nd edition catalogue with product number NW7195-1/2D and in 42nd edition as NW7195D.
K&E main offices and factory were in Hoboken during the period when this item was manufactured.
