Object/Artifact
Hoboken Baby Parade, September 9, 1914.
Commemorative medal in cast bronze with high relief, 1-1/4" diameter plus link ring; present are an additional ring with ribbon and clasp (these items do not appear to be original.) Made by Whitehead & Hoag Co., Newark, N.J. (maker's initials in relief on reverse.)
The distribution of this item has not been determined. It is known that silver trophies (loving cups) were presented to prize winners. It is likely that this medal was a souvenir for all who were entered (or to a parent) or was a fund-raiser. Note the vignette features an ocean liner and a steam locomotive flanking a medical symbol, the caduceus.
