Wood and metal; overall 3-1/8" wide x 9" long. Marked "Keuffel & Esser Co."; "Djos"; "Sweden." With: paper covered cardboard slipcase container with printed label on on end of tray. Label is skinned; model number found in catalogs. Not present: instructions or product sheet.
Product name and model number do not appear on object. Commonly known as a bark gauge and used for measuring thickness of tree bark. Wood-handled corer is pushed against bark until it meets the wood, measurement is read directly from shaft markings. An imported device offered by K&E whose general offices and main factories were in Hoboken in this period.
