Black-and-white aerial photo looking west of the waterfront from Twelfth St. to Weehawken looking west, Hoboken, no date, [1964]. 5-1/2" x 13-3/8" wide image on 11" x 14" print. Photo was copied from a printed image, source not indicated. Drymounted on matte board, reverse is blank.
The view shows the Bethlehem Steel Shipyard and all Hoboken piers up to Weehawken. Lipton Tea building can be seen with only the sign facing east. The Fourteenth St. viaduct is at top left.
In the shipyard and/or Navy docks are four ocean liners which according to ocean liner historian William H. Miller who dated this image and added: the liners were docked here because of an American seamen's strike. White vessels, south to north: S.S. Independence, S.S. Constitution, S.S. Santa Rosa and S.S. Santa Paula. This is the last time these liners were ever seen together. Three Grace Line freighters are in the upper right.
According to Miller, Bethlehem Steel Shipyard used this photo in publicity materials.
