Digital image of handbill: Art on Show. The Unknown Unveiled. Full House Printing & Graphics, 91 Willow Ave., Hoboken, no date [1996]. Size of original: 8-1/2" wide x 11" high; printed one side. Archived on disk.
Original created by Robert Burczy in 1996. Image at center is a man drawn by artist's cousin (not named).
A same-size reproduction was used in the exhibition, The Poster Art of Robert Burczy, in the Upper Gallery, Hoboken Historical Museum, May 7 to July 1, 2006 (was scheduled to end June 11, but it was extended.) Statement in 2006 by the artist about this work: In other shows that I worked on and was not exhibited in, I got pretty good at titles. "Art on Show" is 'what is art - on show.' The drawing of the man was done by my cousin. This poster was torn down more often than most, probably because they thought it was Jesus.
It got to the point that in the early 90's it was really was easy to be everywhere, so much so that other artists were having a problem with it and thought that maybe I should give up my spots to make it fair. At this point, there was no stopping the 'Burczy Blitzkrieg.'
