Horse shaped cookie cutter stamped Davis Baking Powder. Issued by by R. B. Davis Co., Hoboken, no date, (1926.) Formed and stamped metal, soldered, ca. 3" high x 3-3/4" wide x 7/8" high. Two each; labeled as as Cutter 1; Cutter 2.
This is one of four animal shaped cookie cutters that comprised a set. While called horse in company promotion, it is sometimes described as a pony or dog. Edge stamping position varies indicating they were made in at least different lots.
A promotional item. Davis made its main product, Baking Powder in Hoboken during the time period this item was issued. They had can making facilities as part of manufacturing and packaging operations at least in the 1920s. Whether they made this cutter in Hoboken or had them made elsewhere by a contract vendor has not been determined.
