Digital image of sepia-tone photo of people boarding a dayliner for DeSapio Democratic Association outing, Hoboken, no date, ca. 1945-1947. Original print 8" x 10" wide. Photographer not indicated.
Original image from the papers of Fred M. DeSapio. Front has numeral '6' in black ink on print at bottom left corner. Reverse has only pencil letters "TR" [indicating 'top right' for position, either in multiple matte for framing - suggested by tape marks on reverse, but no matte burn is evident - or in some un-named publication] and lower on the sheet the numeral '8' done with black grease pencil.
The event was the annual boat ride to Rye Beach of the Fred M. DeSapio Democratic Organization. None of the people are identified.
The view is looking south - southwest. The un-named vessel is moored at the head end of the slip between Pier 1 and Lackwanna Plaza; River Street is out-of-view at the right. Lackawanna Terminal is in the background to the left with the streetcar terminal with radio tower to its right. In the center, forward of the streetcar terminal, is Duke's House. The second building from the right is 1 Newark Street, the former Hoboken Land and Improvement Company.
