Scope and ContentMagazine ad: Hoboken Manufacturers' Terminal Building as seen in advertisement by Turner Construction Company. On page 22 removed from an unspecified issue of Architectural Forum, probably August or September 1919. Single leaf 9" x 12" high. The ad has two photos of the site of the Hoboken Manufacturers' Terminal Building (it is not actually named in the ad.) It was at Fifteenth and Washington Streets. Circa 1920-1921 it became better known locally as the Lipton Tea Building with its sign on top and today is the residential building, The Tea Building. Both of the elevated views looking east were probably taken from 1500 Park Avenue, another HL&I Co. structure. The left image was from July 3, 1916 and shows the site and foundation preparation. The right one is from Oct. 28, 1916 and shows the 12 story (north and L) structure nearly completed. Both are captioned beneath "Hoboken Land & Improvement Co., Hoboken, N.J. Chas [Charles] Fall, Architect." It also includes dimensions: 496' x 81' with L 27' x 80', 12 stories and basement. The ad promoted the company for its skill and speed in concrete skeleton work and used this example of a building being done in only four months. It also noted that between 1912 and then, they had done 5 contracts with the Hoboken Land & Improvement Co. The reverse (page 21) has editor's page noting that "nearly a year has elapsed since the Armistice [that would have been November 1918]" and that "new subscription rates to take effect Oct. 15, 1919."
