The 84 lots, extensively described, have penciled prices (probably prices realized) for most lots. Lot 1, Golden Fern's Lad 65300, is recorded at $2,500.00. Another lot has 1000, but the numbers range from 15 to the low hundreds in general.
Primarily notable in regards to Hoboken for the location of this event and for the fact that an auction of live animals was held within the city limits at that time.
The livestock arrived from Europe aboard the S.S. Mesaba of the Red Star Line as recorded in the title text.
The inside back cover has a photograph of the exterior of the building and is captioned:
The Hoboken Riding Academy. A.P. Hexamer, Proprietor. Is located at 215 to 223 Hudson Street, Hoboken, N.J., only five minutes walk from Hoboken Ferry, leaving New York every ten minutes from the foot of Christopher and Barclay Streets. Time from New York Post Office or Union Square, New York, about 30 minutes.
