Display Value: Fair Notes: Jacob Volk established a funeral business on Washington St. in 1865 which also served as the base for his other business, picture framing, as he was a gilder by training. In only a few years, an additional business was set up close to Bloomfield & 4th Sts. near the Vauxhaul Gardens. This part of the business included general livery and boarding stables. In 1876, both business were combined and move to 335 Washington St. with the stables in the rear on Court St. In 1897 they purchased the property at 631-633 Washington St. (presently the site of the Lawton-Turso Funeral Home) which became main site for the A.J.
