Artwork for proposed streetcar or railroad advertising card for Schmalz's Bread, prepared for John Schmalz's Sons', Inc., Model Bakery of Hoboken, no place, no date, ca. 1900-1920. Paper folder, 5-1/8" high x 8" wide closed, opens to a tipped-in pre-printed cardstock weight leaf which had a blank panel for an illustration to be applied. There is a painted advertisement illustration depicting a fox hunting scene and copy that reads: "Don't Just Eat Bread, Eat Schmalz's Bread." Art appears to be done with watercolors or gouache. No artist is named.
The printed text below the artwork: "It is understood that this copy is for use only in cars controlled by us, unless special arrangements are made. Illustrations will be furnished at current commercial art rates." At the lower right is a form number which suggests this may from about 1913 or later.
