B+W photos, 8, of K&E [Co.] Camera Club activities, Hoboken et al, n.d., ca. 1950s.
Photograph
Leaf with eight artistically mounted black-and-white photos of Keuffel & Esser [Co.] Camera Club activities, Hoboken et al, no date, circa 1950s. Eight prints, circa 2-1/8" high x 3" wide mounted with rubber cement on white bond paper; drawn ink frames. Photographer is not indicated. People are not identified except as noted below. Reverse of mounting leaf is blank.
These materials are from the personal papers of Keuffel & Esser Co. employee Anita Heimbruch of 1217 Garden St., Hoboken, who was a member of this club and President for a period. She was a life-long photographer and worked at K&E over twenty five years.
The top two photos in the left column show a club meeting in the club or activities room at the Hoboken factory. While bowling trophies are seen on the table (there was extensive employee participation in company leagues) it was not part of the activity in the scenes here. In the top photo (1), Heimbruch is standing at the rear; in the second photo (2) from the top, is apparently an awards ceremony where she is seen presenting a small wrapped gift or award to a club member. There are other wrapped packages on the table. The club held exhibitions and awarded prizes.
The third photo (3) in the left column shows the group (Heimbruch right front) are seated at a dining table, wine glass is seen (probably not the company cafeteria.)
The other five photos (4-8) are outdoor scenes of a club outing to an amusement park or pier. Various activities are seen including two of women taking photographs.
