This lithograph was one of the primary advertising images used by the brand in both Europe and the United States with repeatedly printed with variations in the writing on the wall.
Signed and dated 1893 on the stone by the artist Firmin Bouisset [Etienne Maurice Firmin Bouisset]. It is one of several posters he did for Menier starting in 1892. The model was his daughter, Yvonne. It came to be used on hundreds of promotional items related to the brand.
Chocolat Menier did have U.S. warehouse and distribution operations in Hoboken, earliest date not yet established, but about 1900. They left Hoboken in the late 1940s or early 1950s.
