Interior advertising sign, hand painted, from the Clam Broth House, Hoboken, n.d. (ca. 1960-70's.) Molded wood frame painted red, no glass. 45.25" w x 30.5"h. Professionally painted with poster paint and signed by "Leo T. Devlin" in a typical 'store sign' style with flourished lettering in several fonts, upper & lower case, and colors. Double-weight poster board, very brittle.
Reads: "We are Direct & Daily | Receivers | of more | Soft Shell Clams | Than Any Other Consumer Known | We Guarantee | Our Clam Broth is Absolutely Pure | 25¢ to Take Home [space] Clam Broth House." Depicted at the upper left is a steamer pot with urn base and an upper torso of a chef in uniform pointing to a tray held up by his left arm that has 3 steaming cups of clam broth.
The sign has some water damage, several areas of loss around the edges, none greater than 3" in, light soil and some scuffing. It is very brittle.
