Label text: Dedication of New Tunnel, Weehawken, N.J. Dec. 21, 1937. Official cars come through Lincoln tunnel to the Jersey side.
View is of three automobiles exiting the south tube on the New Jersey side; bunting on portal face above tunnel; uniformed band members standing at ease to the left. Behind the band members is an emergency truck lettered "The Port of New York [Authority]"
The south tube seen here opened to regular traffic on December 22, 1937. The north tube portal is seen at the left, but it was not completed until 1944 and opened on Feb. 1, 1945. Prior to that the south tube served for two-way traffic.
