Photograph
Black-and-white photo of a food bus (truck) reputedly on Paterson St., Hoboken, dated March 19, 1955. 3" x 4-3/4" wide print. Photographer not indicated. Reverse has contemporary penciled date: Sat. March 19 - 1966; processor's inkstamped number: C 602.
Attibution of location by donor's original source.
A bus converted to a "food truck" in modern terminology. The date is less than two weeks before the City of Hoboken celebrated its centennial (with a parade and other activities) on March 28th, but no relation to that event, if any, has been established. The bus has several soda signs (Pepsi-Cola, 7 Up, Nehi) as well as stenciled letters below the side windows with the various cooked food offerings: hot dogs; steak sandwiches; juicy hamburger; home made italian sausage; [illegible].
The window signage in the right background is an "Al's Tavern" whose street address has not been located; it prominently promoted it's television.
