GENERAL VIEW OF TUNNEL DAMAGE
This is a general view of the section of Holland Tunnel which was damaged, May 13, when an explosion occurred on a truck hauling chemicals through the conduit from New Jersey to New York. Sections of the tunnel wall and ceiling were ripped out by the blast. Firemen and a police officer inspect trucks which were trapped by the fire resulting from the explosion.

Inkstamped date of May 18th is at least 3 days after the tunnel re-opened, so the date this photo was probably was late on May 13th or early Saturday, May 14th.
