Per unpublished biography by son Paul Samperi, the brownstone property at 604 was purchased in late 1950 to be used as a primary residence for Joseph and Sarah Samperi and Paul (they were selling the Continental Hotel they owned and would have to vacate their quarters there.) A gut renovation was done to old building during the first six months of 1951. It was adjacent to the Union Club which the family owned. It became a very modern style building.
It is an interesting group of interior and exterior photos documenting taste in domestic furnishings and decor including the the television and the kitchen's Philco refrigerator.
