Notes: Per purchase source (eBay): "This is a vintage, 1930 photograph. It shows the United States Line dock at Hoboken New Jersey. It was taken by Harry Boutrell, who was ship photographer on the S.S. Republic out of New York City. Boutrell was an amazing photographer, first on Great Lakes Freighters and then on Ocean Liners. It was removed from an album, but is in good shape." ------ The S.S. Republic was the former U.S.S. President Grant used in World War I by U.S. Army Tranport Service. It was prior to that the S.S. President Grant of the Hamburg America Line and confiscated from its German owners in 1917 and converted to a troop transport ship.
