Object/Artifact
Digital image of offset printing plate with photographic image of Frank Sinatra performing with Bill Henri and his Headliners at the Rustic Cabin, Alpine (Englewood), N.J., no date, original image ca. 1938-1939; plate considered to have been made at an unknown later date. Metal sheet, ca. 16 guage, 14-1/4" high x 21-5/8" wide. Image with printer's screen pattern. Where used and for what project is not known.
Note the WNEW microphones. According to '"The Revised Compleat Sinatra" by Albert Lonstein and Vito Marino, WNEW started its broadcasts from this nightclub in February of 1939. In June, Harry James heard a broadcast and signed Sinatra in June, 1939. While this photo appears in this book and is captioned as 1938, it is more likely it is from February to June of 1939.
