B+W photo of newstand on Hudson Place west of PATH street entrance, Hoboken, n.d., ca.1960s.
Photograph
Black-and-white photo of newstand on Hudson Place just west of PATH street entrance, Hoboken, no date, circa 1960s. 3-1/4" x 4-11/16" wide. Photographer not indicated, but it was probably Jack O'Brien of Hoboken. Reverse has modern holographic ink notation by O'Brien: Path Station, Newspaper shack; also inkstamped number 22 of print processor.
View is southwest of a structure on the south side of the street that is no longer in use (was in operation until ca. 2009.) The building in the background was a PATH system maintenance building (originally built by the predecessor railroad, the Hudson & Manhattan) with a parking lot north of it.
Detail of signage at the left indicated candy bars were 6 cents and gum or drops 10 cents. These prices tentatively date it as probably early to late 1960s along with the automobiles seen in the lot; note no fences around parking lot.
As can be seen, magazines and other publications were available. Old signage above hanging items notes pipes, razor blades and film which are the only legible lettering.
