Photograph
Black-and-white photo of the Waiting Room interior of Lackawanna Terminal, Hoboken, 1967.
5" x 7" wide print. Photographer not stated. Reverse is blank. None of the people are identified.
Dated by donor per their source as: DLW Railroad & Ferry Terminal Hoboken NJ 1967 Photo 4.
While called Lackawanna Terminal then, it was technically the Erie Lackawanna Terminal. Originally erected by the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad.
A warm weather photograph of the inside of this room which has been received restoration by New Jersey Transit. View is looking southeast towards the grand staircase leading to the second floor, the former ferry passenger concourse. Beneath the stairs are the doors that were used then for entry to the ferry slips. Signage indicates ferry passage was twenty-five cents, "quarters only."
Also beneath the stairs is a door with BAR sign with LOUNGE beneath it. (Also a small direction sign at the corner.) At the right wall is the Lackawanna Restaurant Lunch Room. Note that the shoeshine stand is at the left edge (north side of the room) near the stairway steps. Two banks of telephone booths are present. The waiting room seats / benches are the original ones, but note that they do not have any lighting mounted on them.
