Erie Lackawanna Railroad Magazine, Volume 59, No. 4, July / August 1963. (Phoebe Snow cover.) Last issue of publication.
16 pp., 8-1/2" x 11", photo illustrated. PDF on file.
Ceasing publication after nearly 59 years as the house organ for the Erie Railroad and then its post-1960 successor, Erie-Lackawanna Railroad (see page 13 for notice), the cover featured the revival Phoebe Snow passenger train that was restarted on August 1, 1963 at Hoboken. Running to Chicago, it no longer went through Buffalo. A small article is on page 2.
The publication was ending because the railroad was losing money and cutting costs wherever it could. The Phoebe Snow article was even rather cautious about the prospects for the renewed train route. (It would end service only three years later.)
