This dock is probably on the Hudson River at Guttenberg, N.J. The Active Boat Club was established in Hoboken with a floating clubhouse between Fourth and Fifth Streets where several other boat clubs were located. By the mid-1910s and due to wartime (Hoboken was the main Port of Embarkation for the U.S. Army in World War I) and continuing industrial development of the Hoboken waterfront, these clubs were displaced except for the Atlantic (The floating club house is seen in this location on the Hopkins 1909 Plate 4, but not on the same plate in the 1923 edition.)
The source of the photo was Diane Michel Brancato who stated that her grandfather, Jacob J. Kirchner, moved the family from Hoboken to Guttenberg during this period.
Two girls and boy in swimwear are posed clowning for the photographer. The back of another person is seen in the background at the dock edge.
Contemporary ink notations in print margins:

Also date "1923" on print image.
