Scope and ContentNewspaper article: HOBOCAN HACKINGH The Land is this City First Improved in 1804. "The New City of Hoboken" Was the Name Colonel Stevens Gave to the Property He Offered at Auction the "Tontine Coffee House in the City of New York" - Eight Hundred Lots of Ground He Wished to Dispose of. (Extracts from Winfield's History of Hoboken.) Published Wednesday, January 15, 1896 in a local newspaper (name not known, but display ads on reverse are Hoboken businesses.) A full height single column (scanned image is in overlapping sections.) The clipping was part of series of at least 14 extracts taken from Winfield's history and credited in the title as "Extracts from Winfield's History of Hoboken." This one is probably the fourth. They were all published in published in January and dated by the collectors, Matthias H. and May Georgia Taylor of 525 Garden St., in pencil or ink. This source text was: Hopoghan Hackingh.
