Photograph
Black-and-white photo of baseball player Dick Brodkowski posed in Boston Red Sox baseball uniform, no place, 1952.
8" x 10" vintage print. Photographer not indicated.
Front lower right margin, black china marker: 52. From The Jersey Journal newspaper morgue with editorial markup, inkstamp and attachment; no caption.
The "52" on front would correspond with his first season as a pitcher in the major leagues, 1952, when he was with the Red Sox; after military service he returned to Boston for one season.
Richard Stanley Brodowski was a native of Bayonne. As a high school student in Hudson County, he would have played some games in Hoboken during those years.
This item is from records compiled for and used in preparation of activities for Hoboken Baseball Day 1996, the 150th anniversary of a noted game played in Hoboken. His photo present here may indicate he participated in some fashion.
