Photograph
Black-and-white photo of Bernard M. McFeely, Commissioner of Public Safety, Hoboken, N.J., 1921.
A 6-9/16" wide x 8-3/8" high print apparently signed in pencil by the photographer, "R. Magnus, .16." (Whether or not this was intended to be 1916 is not known.) Apparently used for newspaper publication. Holographic ink caption in two lines at the bottom which has blurred due to water damage. The dark paper residue on the reverse is from a mounting folder. The date, Aug. 28, 1921, is rubber stamped, a second caption is in pencil along with a printer's notation "1/2 col[umn] | Sunday." The pink paper residue may be from a newpaper morgue attachment. The article this appeared in was probably about the August 24, 1921 fire on Pier 5 of the Hoboken docks.
Relationship to the Miller or Markey families is unknown, except that Mrs. Frank Markey (Mary Miller Markey, Mary Henry Miller) probably was in the news article for the her American Red Cross Volunteer role.
