Feather duster, "Janitor" model, sold by C. Muzzi, 104 Jefferson St., Hoboken, no date, ca. 1900-1925. Circa 28" long x 10" diameter at feather end. Turned wood handle with reddish brown opaque varnish. Metal ferrule, unpainted, with sewn black leather cone covering feather attachments. Leather is stamped in silver gilt: Janitor | [eagle motif] | C. Muzzi & Co. | 104 Jefferson St. | Hoboken, N.J. Feathers are probably turkey.
From the Kostelecky family of Hoboken and probably used by them either at home at their family carriage building and repair business. Muzzi is listed in the 1925 Polk directory as a retail hardware dealer at the Jefferson St. address. It is not known if they were the manufacturers of this item or if it branded by another manufacturer for them.
