J., from New York City FOR CARRIAGES AND AUTOMOBILES 1) By BARCLAY STREET FERRY of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad Company, (downtown), to Newark Street, Hoboken. (Boats every seven and one half minutes in the morning). Newark Street, Hoboken, is a few blocks south of the North German Lloyd Piers on River Street, foot of Second, Third and Fourth Streets. Barclay Street Ferry is approximately on a line with the City Hall, the General Post Office, and the Brooklyn Bridge, Borough of Manhattan. This Ferry is the best adapted for the use of travelers from the Borough of Brooklyn or from downtown districts of the Borough of Manhattan. 2) By CHRISTOPHER STREET FERRY of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad Company, to Newark Street, Hoboken. (Boats every ten minutes in tbe morning.) Newark Street, Hoboken, is a few blocks south of the North German Lloyd Piers on River Street, foot of Second, Third and Fourth Streets. This Ferry is best adapted for the use of travelers from the lower residential section of the Borough of 2 ==== Manhattan and from the Borough of Queens. Christopher Street Ferry is approximately on a line with Eighth Street, Borough of Manhattan. 3) By TWENTY-THIRD STREET FERRY of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad Company. (Boats every ten minutes in the morning to Newark Street, Hoboken.) (Boats every ten minutes in the morning to 14th Street, Hoboken.) This Ferry leaves from the foot of 23rd Street and North River, consisting of two lines, one running from 23rd Street to 14th Street, Hoboken, and the other from 23rd Street to Newark Street, Hoboken. Newark Street, Hoboken, is a few blocks south of the North German Lloyd Piers on River Street, foot of Second, Third and Fourth Streets. From 14th Street, Hoboken, a direct and convenient route leads to the North German Lloyd Piers. Automobilists will take note that only four automobiles are taken on any one ferry boat of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad Company, hence an accumulation of automobiles at these ferries frequently causes delay. BEST ROUTE FOR AUTOMOBILES to the North German Lloyd Piers in Hoboken, via WEST SHORE FERRY from 42nd STREET and NORTH RIVER to WEEHAWKEN. (Note that there is a ferry from West 42nd Street, N. Y., to West New York, which does not lead to Weehawken.) 3 ==== Automobiles are transported by the West Shore Ferry from Forty-second Street to Weehawken without limitation as to the number on any one ferry boat. Boats every fifteen minutes in the morning. DIRECTIONS: After landing from the ferry boat at Weehawken, proceed on the road up the hill, (Belgian block pavement), on the brow of which is the Hudson County Boulevard (macadam). Here turn to the left and follow the Boulevard about nine blocks to a point where it makes a natural curve to the right, then follow it about three blocks to a natural curve to the left, down hill, continuing down hill. crossing the Erie Railroad tracks over a bridge into Park Avenue, Hoboken, (asphalt), which is a continuation of the Boulevard. Follow Park Avenue, Hoboken, to Eleventh Street, Hoboken, (asphalt), then turn to the left through Eleventh Street toward the Hudson River four blocks to Hudson Street, (asphalt), then turn to the right through Hudson Street to Fourth Street, (Belgian block), and then to the left through Fourth Street to North German Lloyd Piers on River Street, foot of Second, Third and Fourth Streets. Ordinary time for automobiles, including ferriage, from Forty-second Street, New York. to North German Lloyd Piers, Hoboken, about 25 minutes. This route avoids delay at ferries on sailing days. ROUTE FOR PEDESTRIANS. The BARCLAY STREET, CHRISTOPHER STREET and TWENTY-THIRD STREET FERRIES to Newark Street, Hoboken, land pedestrians at a point in Hoboken whence they can reach the North German Lloyd Piers in a few minutes. 4 ==== TUNNEL ROUTES TO HOBOKEN Pedestrians will find the tunnel routes to Hoboken the most expeditious to the North German Lloyd Piers. The time hy the Hudson Manhattan Rail road Tunnels to the North German Lloyd Piers is as follows: 17 minutes from 23rd St. and 6th Ave. New York. 16 minutes from 19th St. and 6th Ave., New York. 15 minutes from 14th St. and 6th Ave., New York. 14 minutes from 9th St. and 6th Ave., New York. 12 minutes from Christopher Street, New York. The trip across the Hudson River to New York may be avoided by passengers for the steamers of the North German Lloyd arriving at the PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD STATION in Jersey City by the Pennsylvania, Southern, Atlantic Coast Line, Seaboard Air Line, Chesapeake & Ohio, Lehigh Valley and New York, Susquehana and Western Railroads, on the day of sailing, by taking the Hudson & Manhattan tunnel trains at the Pennsylvania Station in Jersey City to the terminal of the Hudson Manhattan tunnel in Hohoken, N. J., which is within five minutes walk of the North German Lloyd Piers. The running time of the tunnel tram is 7 minutes. Passengers for the steamships of the North German Lloyd arriving by the Erie Railroad or the trams of the New York, Susquehana and Western Railroad entering the ERIE STATION may reach the piers of the North German Lloyd by taking the Hudson & Manhattan tunnel trains at the Erie station in Jersey City to the terminal station at Hoboken, N. J., which is within five minutes walk of the North German Lloyd piers. The running time of the tunnel tram is 4 minutes. 5 ==== The most convenient way for passengers arriving at the GRAND CENTRAL STATION to reach the North German Lloyd piers in Hoboken is to take a Subway Express tram to Fulton Street and there walk one block west to the Cortlandt Street Station of the Hudson & Manhattan Tunnel Co., there taking a tunnel tram to Hoboken, N. J. which is within five minutes walk from the piers of the North German Lloyd. This requires about 35 minutes. The Hudson & Manhattan Railroad Tunnel from Church and Cortlandt Streets, Borough of Manhattan, conducts foot passengers to the Lackawanna Terminal in Hoboken, passing under the Pennsylvania and the Erie Terminals in Jersey City. This lower tunnel from Church and Cortlandt Streets is convenient for foot passengers from the Borough of Brooklyn and the lower business section of the Borough of Manhattan.
