Clock recording device used by pigeon flyers for validating flying times by birds in competition. Manufactured in Belgium, no date, ca 1930's - 1940's; ink stamp inside lid for G.B. Gombaro & Son, Watchmaker & Jeweler, Union City, New Jersey plus pencil markings next to it: 7/53, 9/58 which are presumed to be dates in 1953 and 1958 that the mechanism was serviced and/or calibrated.
Used by Vinny Torre as part of activities of the Hudson County Homing Pigeon Club, Hoboken.
Oak wood case with hinged lid, 8-1/2" wide x 6-3/4" deep x 5-1/4" high plus handle. Front has locking mechanism with holes for a security seal to be attached; crank handle for operating printing mechanism; right side opening for access to a metal tray. Various exterior metal fittings plus round glass windows in the lid top and in the bottom. Interior has mechanism with manufacturer's plate; includes printing ribbon. Lacking the interior clock that would have been mounted to have been viewed through the lid top. The clock is present in the bottom window.
