A 9/11 memorial item: a ca. 4 foot x 10" wide x 8" high piece of driftwood with written memorial sentiments, recovered in Hoboken, 2001.
Object/Artifact
A 9/11 memorial item: a ca. 4 foot x 10" wide x 8" high piece of driftwood with various holographic statements by individuals, if signed, only with first names. Recovered by the donor ca. October - November, 2001, from the Hudson River bank at the boat landing area in Sinatra Park, 4th St. and Sinatra Drive, Hoboken.
Nothing is known about the creators of this memorial. While called driftwood relating to its area of recovery, it does appear to have been a piece of worked wood which was quite worn from a long period of exterior exposure whether in water or as part of a deteriorating pier structure (which still existed at selected places in Hoboken at this time.)
