SLOW BOAT TO CHINA
New York, N.Y.: The odd-looking 287-foot "Hu Men", her forward deck sheated [sic - sheeted] in steel and all other passageway openings boarded up, in the Todd Shipbuilding Hoboken yards where she is undergoing general inspection and repairs before continuing her 12,0000 mile maiden voyage to Shanghai. The Canadian built, modernistically designed ship, which has a lightweight hull of special high tensile, rust-resistant steel and all-aluminum superstructure is being delivered to her new owners, Ming Sung Industrial Company. The "Hu Men" is scheduled for the 135 mile run up the Yangtze River between Shanghai and Chungking and will carry 162 passengers.
