Shirak, proprietor of a candy store (Lepore's Chocolate) and well-known Frank Sinatra fan, ran for Mayor in 2001. The star on the button is a reference to the star placed on the sidewalk at Sinatra's birthplace, 415 Monroe Street, and that was paid for by Shirak. He also has a tribute plaque on the exterior wall of his business with a similar star design. The "Our Way" reference is to a book by Shirak about Sinatra (it refers to the title of one of Sinatra's signature songs from late in his career) with that main title which Shirak adopted as his campaign slogan. Shirak did not win the election.
