4-1/4" x 6-7/16" high beveled gilt edge mount. Photograph taken by J.K. Stevens & Son Co., McVicker's Theatre Building, Chicago (Illinois.) Imprint on front and back.
Baby is not identified, but donor notes accompanying the photograph: Anna Sanntrock (1860-1945) married a Louis Meyer in Hannover, Germany. They went from Hoboken to Chicago, IL. They had four children; perhaps this is a child or a grandchild.

Note about photographer: Stevens & Son were located in the McVicker's Theatre Building - this theatre was originally built in 1857, but rebuilt in 1885 which is an early listed year for the photography studio. (Theatre burned down in 1890 and re-built and re-opened by March 1891 - Stevens is known to be have been located there in the 1890s.)

One of a group of photographs in this accession related to the Sanntrock family which lived in Hoboken from the later part of the 19th century until the early 20th century. Consisting of images of first and second generation German immigrants, the group reflects their German heritage and culture in fashions and content (some photographs are from Germany, apparently of relatives.)
