Benson's Wild Animal Farm.
Book
Benson's Wild Animal Farm. By Bob Goldsack. Images of America. [Charleston, SC]: Arcadia Publishing, [2011]. First edition. 8vo softcover. pp. 127, photo illustrated.
John T. Benson (1879-1943) founded this farm in Hudson (Nashua), New Hampshire in the mid-1920s. He had previously been a wild animal importer in Hoboken until the early 1920s. He was also an agent for Carl Hagenbeck (and successors) in Hoboken and later years. Clients included zoos and circuses.
He had a quarantine and storage facility in Hoboken where the wild animals were held prior to shipping to customers.
Page 16 has two captioned photos, the top one being in Hoboken and the bottom one referring to Hoboken, but it is not clear that it is in Hoboken. There is brief text in the first three chapters regarding his Hoboken era.
