Rectangular cardboard box with metal top and bottom, 5" high x 3-1/4" wide x 2-1/8" deep; printed all face sides; pry-off oblong cap stamped "Davis Bicarbonate of Soda." Bottom is blank. Note: original contents was stated as present and container is full; powdered contents is now solid and swollen resulting in distortion of the cardboard part of the can. The front and back have the same printed artwork with the Good Housekeeping Institute Seal of Approval. Directions on side "For Medicinal Uses" and "For Cooking Purposes." Text on right side: Davis is an Improved Bicarbonate of Soda (Baking Soda) and hence will be found free from the unpleasant taste of less refined grades. It meets all the requirements of the U.S. Pharmacopoeia Standards and may be used freely for Medicinal as well as Baking purposes. R.B.
