Box: Fabric Mourning Paper. Stern Brothers, New York, Stationery Department. Size: Norman. Two piece carton with printed paper over cardboard lid, 4-3/4"wide x 6-3/4" high x 15/16" thick. Belonged to Florence G. Miller of 716 Bloomfield Street, Hoboken, and likely purchased in April of 1919.
Miller's fiance Allan W. Moore died ca. April 10, 1919 and she would have used this type of black-edged note paper and envelope to respond to / thank correspondents who sent condolences. It has her initials in ink on the lid. Memorabilia related to his death and catalogued in this accession was saved by her in this box.
