A sailor's hat band ribbon. Black silk embroidered with gold lettering and insignia flag in white, blue and gold, 1-1/4" wide x 38" long. (No anchor embroidered at either end.)
Nordd. Lloyd = Norddeutscher Lloyd
(North German Lloyd Steamship (or S.S.) Company.; NDL or NGL; also known at one time as Bremen Line.)
D. Bremen = Dampfer Bremen
Dampfer = steamship
(S.S. Bremen (II) was in fleet from 1897 to beginning of World War I.)

North German Lloyd had its American home port in Hoboken during this era and the Bremen routinely docked here. The Bremen was one of the passenger ships that damaged in the 1900 Hoboken pier fire.
The ribbon may also be considered as a souvenir or commemorative item.
