Report, Unification Applications Involving Class I Line-Haul Railroads, 1955-1965, Bureau of Railway Economics, American Association of Railways, October 20, 1965. Five 8-1/2" x 11" pages. Item number 9 (of 42) concerns the 1960 merger of the Erie Railroad and the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad into the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad.
Holographic red or green pencil on the 5 leaves were notes on the length of time between the date of filing and the date of [Interstate Commerce] Commission's decision. For the Erie & DL&W merger, the application was filed on July 1, 1959, the decision was made on September 13, 1960. The effective date of the merger was October 17, 1960. The decision time was one year, 2 months which was a medium-short schedule as shown by the analysis of other line items. Also, a 1964 merger, item 24, relates to the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad.
Unrelated, but enclosed is a printed leaf with a chart of Pennsylvania Railroad Company track mileage, weight of rail and highway grade crossings, December 31,1963.
