Digital image of sepia-tone photo of a Washington Street parade with a mounted unit near Eighth Street, Hoboken, no date, ca. 1920-25. Photographer not known, probably John Muller. None of the people are identified.
The view is apparently looking at the northwest corner of Washington and Eighth Streets with the parade going south on Washington St. The Kaufmann Furniture Co. (Jacob Kauffmann; upholstery by Rachel Kauffmann) seen in the center background was probably at 802 Washington St. Although the company name is not in the 1925 Polk Directory, the two individuals are listed (with their name spelled with two 'f's') with appropriate occupations as well as the address being their residence.
Flad's (meat) Market to the right was listed at 804 Washington St. (The Lauter Piano Company, whose sign is above Kaufmann's, is in the 1925 directory at 732 Washington St. which does not match the other addresses seen. It was probably at this location as just advertising.)
Found on an album leaf with other images that have been generally dated from the 1920's period.
