Announcement and admittance card to Closing Reception, Company C, 2nd Regt., De Long Guard, N.G.N.J. (National Guard, New Jersey), Captain Ramon M. Cook, April 28, 1886, Hoboken, N.J.
Announcement: Single folio, tent fold with added fold for enclosing in envelope, 5" high x 6-3/4" wide, printed on front only. Admittance card, printed card stock, 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" wide; signed by a Samuel J. Crissy to introduce the bearer whose name was not filled in. With: original blank envelope.
A biography of Cook appears in "History of Masonry in North America from 1730 to 1800" by Henry Whittemore, NY, 1888. It records that in April 1886, Captain Cook was promoted to Major from Captain, thus this ceremony was presumably related to that event.
As noted on the card, it was at the Armory in Hoboken. This place was the top floor of the then new (opened 1881) Hoboken City Hall.
