The Portsmouth (it was actually the Portsmouth II) was based in Hoboken from 1895-1911. Used for New Jersey Naval Reserve or Militia training; First Battalion was based onboard this vessel. See search terms for a history of the vessel. The two cannons at the Civil War Soldiers Monument in Stevens Park are from this ship.
Pages [1-6] have articles about other ships and naval activities, orders, etc.
Pages [7-8] have "Ship News" which was a report of activities on the Portsmouth in Hoboken such as an invitation from the Active Boat Club of Hoboken to their second [annual] Minstrel Show and Dance to be held at the Grand View Auditorium on April 28. Page [8] has a table of the battalion strength as of March 31, 1908.
