Underwood & Underwood U-256733. No date, circa 1919-1920. 3-1/2" high x 7" wide. Reverse is unprinted and blank (see photo 2012.001.0042 for another card that has printed text on reverse giving details of the scene and Hoboken.)
This is the World War One Port of Embarkation now serving as the Port of Debarkation. U.S. Army soldiers are waiting to board a train (freight car is seen in the background which is unloading freight to trucks.) The men are just east of the headhouse apparently between piers 3 and 4. View is north with the Stevens Institute administration building just visible left top center in the far background. The crenellated tower seen in the background was at the southwest corner of River and Fourth Streets.
