DescriptionHand-painted, single-sided wall sign, "Hull Dept." from the Bethlehem Steel Shipyard, Hoboken. Made about 1960. Made of 1/2" thick iron or steel plate with 24 ca. 1.25" diam. domed rivets evenly spaced around the perimeter (9 each top and bottom.) 33.25"w x 17"h, 4 mounting holes. Square edges, rounded corners. Reads: "Hull | [painted vignette of liner bow] | Dept." Enamel paints used: white background with lettering and rivet heads in dark blue; vignette in red and several mixed blues. Rust predominately along edges with a 2" band along the front surface at the right.
