Resolution presented by William Utz to (Hoboken Board of Police) Commissioners relative to Policy Shops, etc. Presented read and adopted June 13, 1892. Single sheet, holographic text.
Full text:
Whereas, it is a notorious fact, that the policy shops in this City are again in full operation and that the poor people are being daily fleeced out of large sums of money by this specie of gaming.
Therefore be it resolved, that the Chief of Police be instructed to give this matter his prompt personal attention. And that he instruct the officers of his department to at once close up these policy shops. And arrest the keepers of same. And be it further resolved that the Chief of Police report in writting at the next regular meeting of this board the action he has taken in the premises.
