Scope and ContentBaker's Coconut ad: Why the Coconut Cakes and Pies of a smart New York Tea Room have brought fame to its Southern girl manager. Full-page color advertisement by Franklin Baker Co., Hoboken, N.J. as published in Ladies' Home Journal, January 1927, pg unknown. Clipped leaf, 10-1/2" x 14" high. Promoted Baker's Coconut, Southern-Style, in cans, but it also promoted Baker's Old-Fashioned Shred Coconut; an open boxed package (Premium Shred) is shown. Miss Jean Carson of the Vanity Fair Tea Room [4 West 40th Street, New York City] is seen along with 4 recipes; also mentioned is the chef, Walter Mack, whose Walter's Famous Coconut Cream Cake is featured. No mail coupon, but text includes promotion for a trial (sample) half-size can and recipe book for ten cents. The book and can are stated as "Free" with the ten cents in stamps or coins for packing and mailing. Company street address is not given. The company was at 15th and Bloomfield Streets.
