Notes: William Gibbs McAdoo was a lawyer who was the primary developer and leader of the companies that built the Hudson and Manhattan Railroad. This company was formed by him in February 1902 (it was for the purpose of finishing "The Tubes" (started in 1874) which became known as the 'McAdoo Tunnels.') It is one of three companies that were merged to become the Hudson & Manhattan Railroad. The company's name is sometimes stated with "New Jersey" in it, but that name is not original. And other references have been seen to it or a related entity as "New York and Jersey Tunnel Co." Status: OK Status By: dw Status Date: 2010-12-01
