Meyer's Celler [sic - Cellar] imprint: Pioneer Community Song Sheet. New Revised Edition. Paull - Pioneer Music Corp., New York. No date, circa 1928-1929.
Pamphlet, 3-1/2" x 8-1/4" high, 12 pp.
The booklet consists of lyrics for "75 Favorites You Love to Sing." Numbered songs, usually one stanza plus tempo and key are noted. The cover stated "$1.50 Per Hundred; $12 Per Thousand."
The advertisement on page [12] is for "Meyers (usually found as Meyer's) Celler '16 Feet Below' Meyers Hotel, Third and Hudson Streets, Hoboken, N.J." - a rathskeller / german beer cellar that was well known (although this was during the Prohibition era.) The copy at the top states: "Back to The Good Old Days of 'After Dark' and 'The Black Crook' Call for your favorite old-time tune, and then join in the chorus."
The two shows mentioned were musical stage productions produced by Christopher Morley and his associates at the Lyric and Rialto Theatres in Hoboken, within a block or two of Meyer's. Their mention is used to approximately date this item.
Apparently the shows were still running and this pamphet was a free promotional item for visitors who came for the shows. Morley himself was a frequent visitor to Meyer's.
