Notes: Archives 2012.004.0079 Mayor's Office Hoboken, N.J. May 18th, 1882 To The Hoboken Land Improvement Company: [Yours of 16th, instant, received.] The Ferry Grounds are covered within a post of this Department and regularly patrolled by our Force. The post is limited in extent on Ferry account. Should you desire special policemen to be detailed to serve at or upon the Ferry premises, solely, it will afford the Board of Police Commissions great pleasure to appoint such proper persons as you may elect to authorize them to wear the uniform of the Department and to vest them with the full powers of regular policemen; as in accordance with Act of Legislation approved Mach 27th, 1874, - See Police Manual, (a copy, please find enclosed) page 9, section 3. The Board of Police Commissioners does not feel authorized to constitute the premises of any private person or corporation as a post of the Department, nor to assign a regular member of the Force to such permanent duty.
